Rental Operations

Andrew has a background in organizing and facilitating rental operations for one of the largest land grant institutions in the United States. West Virginia University and its Outdoor Recreation Center have been a hub for outdoor focused rentals since the mid 1990s. Since 2017, Andrew has operated in a capacity managing students and staff through the process of offering exceptional customer service while putting forth a wide range of high quality rental equipment offerings in bicycles, backpacking, paddling, climbing, skis, and snowboards.

Education and Training

While at Adventure WV, Andrew has focused efforts in the education and training of students, faculty, and staff at West Virginia University. This can be seen in the Program Support and Rental Operations (PSSRO) student staff members that work at the Outdoor Recreation Center. Andrew and his various graduate assistants have cultivated a community of educational opportunities based around technical skills in bicycle, skiing, snowboarding, and backpacking maintenance. Andrew and his PSSRO staff host a variety of skills workshops to help further Adventure WV’s goal of cultivating a more technically sound outdoor recreation community at West Virginia University. Understanding that staff will continuously need to revisit training, Andrew has created a series of training outlines that seek to improve the overall performance of each staff member working within the PSSRO cohort at Adventure WV.

Equipment Management

Over the past 20 years Andrew has worked in outdoor specialty retail as a manager, buyer, sales associate, winter ski/snowboard tech, and part time bike mechanic. While working in this role, Andrew worked as a buyer with dozens of specialty retail companies such as; Patagonia, The North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Osprey Backpacks, Astral Buoyancy, Confluence Watersports, Thule, Yakima, Burton Snowboards, Rossignol Skis, and many more. In addition to outdoor specialty retail, Andrew has also worked as the chief logistics operator for West Virginia University’s Adventure WV department. During his time with Adventure WV, Andrew coordinated a large scale inventory fleet of both programming and rental equipment that included but was not limited to; bicycles (mountain/hybrid), kayaks, canoes, backpacking equipment, climbing, skis, and snowboards. Andrew not only worked to foster a high level of customer service, but he also coordinated a staff of 10-12 staff members to inventory, repair, tune, and facilitate a high level of equipment for the Adventure WV department and its customers.
